Holiday Club in Derby

The summer holiday is six weeks long and most parents have four weeks of annual leave between them. That gap is the single most expensive problem in the childcare year. Coram Family and Childcare put the typical bill at around £1,145 per child across the summer in 2026 — more than most families spend on a holiday.

Our holiday club runs 10:00am to 2:00pm through every Derby school holiday, at £32 a day. And if your child is already with us on the monthly Wraparound Care Plan, it is included — the same £800 covers term time and holidays, so August costs you exactly what November costs you. That is the main reason families move onto the monthly plan rather than paying per day.

Derby school holiday dates 2026/27

These are the Derby City Council dates for community schools. Academies and voluntary aided schools sometimes differ by a day or two, and every school takes five training days of its own choosing, so check with your child’s school as well.

Autumn term runs 4 September to 23 October 2026 and 2 November to 18 December 2026. Spring term runs 4 January to 12 February and 22 February to 25 March 2027. Summer term runs 12 April to 28 May and 7 June to 26 July 2027. The council publishes the full calendar at derby.gov.uk term and holiday dates.

We close on public bank holidays and for seven days between Christmas and New Year.

What children do

Four hours is long enough to do something properly and short enough that nobody gets bored. Days are built around arts and crafts, group games and team activities, reading and quiet corners for children who want them, and Arabic and Urdu practice for families who ask for it. Older children get more independence and more responsibility — we take up to age 15, which most holiday clubs in Derby do not.

Children bring their own packed lunch. We do not provide food and there is no food charge. Drinking water is always available, and we need to know about allergies before your child starts.
