Most after school clubs in Derby run on the school site and finish at 5:30pm or 6:00pm. That works if you finish at five and work nearby. It does not work if you are on a hospital shift, running a shop on Normanton Road, or sitting on the A52 at half past five.
We do it differently. We are an independent setting on Normanton Road, we collect children from their school gate ourselves, and we stay open until 7:00pm. Your child gets picked up, brought here, given somewhere calm to do their homework, fed — by you, from their own lunchbox — and then dropped home. You collect nobody and drive nowhere.

What an afternoon actually looks like
Our staff are at the school gate at the end of the day. Children walk or travel the short distance back to Normanton Road with a DBS-checked escort. From about 3:30pm there is a settling period — children have been concentrating all day and need twenty minutes to stop.
Then homework. This is the part parents tell us matters most: it is done here, with an adult on hand, so it is not hanging over the evening. After that there is reading, board games, arts and crafts, group activities, and Arabic and Urdu practice for the children whose families want it. Children go home from 5:00pm onwards as parents finish, with the last collection at 7:00pm.
We do not provide meals or snacks. Please send your child in with a packed tea. Drinking water is always available.
What it costs
Two rates, and everything else is arithmetic. Care is £8.00 an hour (£6.50 for each additional sibling). The door-to-door round trip is £8.00 a day (£6.50 for a second child at the same address).

That is £10.00 an hour with the transport in it, and it covers holiday club in every school holiday as well — so there is no separate summer bill. Fees are agreed individually, so the figure in your agreement may differ depending on how many children you have, their ages and needs, and whether you need transport. Help with the cost, for Derby families
We are registered for Tax-Free Childcare, so for every £8 you pay in the government adds £2. If you claim Universal Credit you can claim back up to 85% of what you pay us. Student parents can use the Childcare Grant through Student Finance England, and parents under 20 in education can use Care to Learn, which is paid to us directly.
Every family gets a monthly itemised invoice with our Ofsted registration number, your child’s name and date of birth, the hours provided and each charge listed separately, plus a receipt. That is exactly the evidence the DWP and HMRC ask for, and it is the reason our invoices do not get bounced back.

3:00pm to 7:00pm, Monday to Friday during term time. Most Derby after school clubs finish at 5:30pm or 6:00pm, so the extra hour matters if you work shifts or commute.
How much does after school club cost in Derby?
Our Wraparound Care Plan is £800 a month for the first child and £650 for each additional sibling. That is 20 hours a week all year round, including holiday club and door-to-door transport, which works out at £10.00 an hour. It is built from £8.00 an hour for care plus £8.00 a day for the round trip.
Do you provide food at after school club?
No. We do not provide meals or snacks and there is no food charge on your invoice. Please send your child with a packed tea. Drinking water is always available. Tell us about any allergies on registration.
Can I use Tax-Free Childcare or Universal Credit?
Yes. We are registered for Tax-Free Childcare, and Universal Credit claimants can claim back up to 85% of childcare costs. We also accept the Childcare Grant from Student Finance England and Care to Learn. Every family receives an itemised invoice suitable for all of these.
